Town Of North Hempstead Named 2021 Tree City USA Community
This is the tenth year that the Town of North Hempstead has received this designation.

PORT WASHINGTON, NY — The Town of North Hempstead has been named a 2021 Tree City USA community by the National Arbor Day Foundation, officials announced Thursday.
This is the tenth year that the Town has received this designation, which is given out to communities that have a viable tree management plan and program, according to a press release.
In order to be recognized as a Tree City USA community, the city or town must meet the four standards set by the Arbor Day Foundation — having a tree board or department, a tree-care ordinance, a comprehensive community forestry budget of at least $2 per capita, and an Arbor Day observance and proclamation.
