Hazardous weather outlook in effect for Long Island.

By Ryan Bonner
A wind chill advisory has been issued for Long Island and yet another round of snow is on tap for the weekend, according to the National Weather Service.
The wind chill advisory is in effect from midnight until 10 a.m. Friday. Temperatures will drop into the single digits and wind gusts of up to 35 mph will send wind chill temperatures to as low as 17 below zero, the NWS says.

“The frigid conditions will be dangerous to those venturing outside,” the advisory says. “Prolonged exposure may cause frostbite.”
The high temperature on Friday will struggle to get out of the mid-teens and the low on Friday night will approach zero, the NWS says.

Things will “warm” up on Saturday, with a high near 31. But then comes more snow.
Snow is expected Saturday night before changing over to a wintry mix and finally all rain by Sunday morning.
The NWS, however, says the precise timing of the forecast, with regard to when the snow will start and then change to freezing rain and rain remains uncertain.
Current snowfall projections call for 1-2 inches of snow accumulations for most of the island. The North Shore may see 2-3 inches of snow by Sunday morning, the NWS says.
Ice is also expected to be an issue, with between one and two-tenths of an inch of ice possible, the NWS says.
