Witness North Hempstead Release Quails Into The Wild
The birds will soar away into 200 wooded acres near North Hempstead Beach Park to spend their days as professional tick exterminators.

Twenty-five Northern Bobwhite Quails that hatched at North Hempstead TV Studio in Westbury on Memorial Day weekend will soon fulfill their destiny as professional tick exterminators.
The public is invited to cheer on the quails as they are released into the wild on Wednesday, July 26 at the Hempstead Harbor Trail, located at 175 Shore Road in Port Washington, at 10:30 a.m.
The quails will be released in the Town’s 200 wooded acres across from North Hempstead Beach Park and along the Hempstead Trail Harbor where they will spend their time eating ticks.

“The release of our home-grown quails will certainly be an exciting event that no one should miss,” Town Supervisor Judi Bosworth said in a press release. “These birds are our superheroes in the fight against ticks and the diseases they carry.”
In May, more than 1,000 people watched North Hempstead’s quails hatch live on NHTV’s QuailCam.
