FLOWER HILL, NY — A Brooklyn woman was arrested in connection with an attempted grand larceny on Saturday in Flower Hill, Nassau police said.

At 10 a.m. Friday, a 51-year-old woman received a notification on her laptop that her computer was locked and she needed to contact the provided number for assistance, police said. A man pretending to be a representative told the woman about "suspicious activity" and asked for $16K in cash to fix the problem, police said. The woman withdrew the money, and a woman she did not know picked it up later that evening, police said. The woman believed she was scammed and called the police, the department said.

At 2:50 p.m. Saturday, the woman received additional phone calls from the same male tech support requesting an additional $10K in cash and said a second representative would come to her home to pick up the money, police said.
