BROOKLYN, NY — Cops shot at a car which almost hit them as they investigated a suspected stolen vehicle in East Flatbush Thursday night, police said.

An officer fired one shot that struck the fleeing car but didn't hit anybody, police said. Two people ran from the car, but police stopped and arrested the passenger. The driver was still on the loose Friday morning, police said.

Three NYPD officers were hospitalized suffering from tinnitus.

The cops had approached a person trying to enter an unoccupied car that had been reported stolen when the second vehicle drove up and almost hit them just before 9 p.m. at Avenue J and East 39th Street, police said.

After the shooting, the second car crashed into a parked vehicle and the driver and passenger ran from the scene, police said.

The 23-year-old passenger and the person who tried to enter the stolen car were taken into custody. Charges are pending, police said.
