Prospect Heights-area events you won't want to miss.

By William Yackowicz

1.Have some pun.
Don’t miss Punderdome, NYC’s Most Puntastic
Competition at Littlefield on Degraw Street tonight at 8 p.m. This
monthly pun competition is hosted by a self-proclaimed “Rodney
Dangerfield impersonator” and his alleged daughter (Fred and Jo
Firestone). The first 18 individuals/duos to sign-up at the door will
have a chance to participate in competitive spontaneous pun-making.

2.Get folksy. Come hear American Folk, Bucky Hayes and The Humdrums
play The Way Station tonight at 8 p.m. Bucky Hayes is a
Brooklyn-based, by way of Georgia, Singer-Songwriter.  Influenced by
the melodies and craftsmanship of classic country and soul music, he
constructs his own tunes and sound with roots in these styles filtered
through the urban experiences, which are his everyday existence.

3.Urban Influence on Art. Check out Authentic Presents: Culture and
Comics, an ongoing lecture series about the influence of urban and
hip-hop culture on comics and sequential art. The series will feature
well-known hip-hop and visual artists discussing the influence of both
cultures on their work. The event is from 7 to 9 p.m. at Long Island
University's Brooklyn Campus, in room LLC.

4. Check out summer camp. Does your kid have plans for the summer?
Come to Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, 334 Furman Street, for Oasis
Day Camp - Brooklyn Bridge Park - Info Session. For more than a decade
Oasis has provided children with amazing summers while staying close
to home.  Now with the magnificent revitalization of the Brooklyn
waterfront, in cooperation with the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy,
Oasis is thrilled to bring this opportunity to families in Brooklyn.

5.Move your car. Alternate side parking rules are in effect today, but are suspended tomorrow, Thursday, May 9.
