5 Things: Jazzy, Country/Rock and Violin Dance Music

Prospect Heights-area subway, alternate side and event information you won't want to miss.

 

1. You need violin dance music. Head to Elberta, where violinist Phearnon plays classic hits that will make you want to dance. 335 Flatbush Ave., 8 p.m.-11 p.m., Free.

2. You need bluesy, jazzy, country/rock. If you're a fan of American roots music, head over to Washington Avenue to hear Tin Pan Band @ The Way Station. 683 Washington Ave. bet. St. Marks and Prospect, 9 p.m. Free.

3. You need to get the kids out of the house. No need to leave Prospect Heights on Fridays anymore, because now there's a Sing-Along with Mike Messer at Dean Street, 755 Dean St (at the corner of Underhill Ave), 10:30 a.m. $5/family. See our weekly list of kids events for more options.

4. You need to know if your train is running ... It is! There are no planned service changes affecting Prospect Heights today or over the weekend, according to the MTA.

5. ... and if you have to move your car. You do, but you're good for Monday, Oct. 8, when alternate side is suspended for Columbus Day and Shemini Atzereth, according to the NYCDOT.
