'The Americans' Will Shut Down a Block of Prospect Place on Dec. 8

The popular TV show will be shooting on the street between Flatbush Avenue and Carlton Avenue.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Attention fans of "The Americans," as well as people who like to keep tabs on which neighborhood streets will be unexpectedly closed: the popular TV show will be filming in Prospect Heights on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The show will shut down Prospect Place between Flatbush Avenue and Carlton Avenue between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m.

According to a description of the filming put out by Councilwoman Laurie Cumbo's office, the shoot will involve actors walking and talking on the street, as well as about 20 vintage cars.

"The Americans" made neighborhood news earlier this year during a period of heightened debate over the future of Gowanus' Eastern Effects film studio, where the show also shoots, and which may be demolished to make way for storm water retention tanks needed to help clean the Gowanus Canal.
