Arrest Made In Shooting Death Of Crown Heights Man: NYPD

A person from Florida was charged with murder for a shooting that left two men dead at a Brownsville restaurant last October.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A Florida man has been arrested and charged in an October shooting that left two Brooklyn residents dead, officials said Thursday.

Sawandi Galara, 46, a Fort Lauderdale resident, was arrested and charged with murder and eights counts of criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.

On Thursday, Oct. 27, Eyon Johnson, 46, and Damien White, 45, were shot multiple times inside of a Brownsville West Indian restaurant just before 9 a.m, police said last fall.

Johnson, a Crown Heights resident, was pronounced dead shortly afterwards at Brookdale Hospital. White, from Flatbush, died three days later, according to police.

The Daily News reports that the two victims were renovating the Strauss Street restaurant when Galara, dressed in all black, followed the two workers inside the eatery.

Johnson's superintendent told the Daily News that he leaves behind a wife and two children, adding that he was "a cool guy," and "a good tenant."
