Auxiliary NYPD Officer Accused Of Assaulting His Landlord, Police Say

The off-duty auxiliary officer was arrested in Crown Heights on Thursday.

BROOKLYN, NY — New York City Police Department officials said police arrested an off-duty NYPD Auxiliary Police Officer in Crown Heights on Thursday around 9 a.m. and charged him with assault.

NYPD officials said that the officer, 59-year-old Joseph Novembre, is accused of assaulting his landlord, a 75-year-old woman, in the vicinity of Rogers Avenue and Crown Street.

Police did not provide details of the assault but told Patch that the victim stated she had pain in her forehead.

An auxiliary police officer is a volunteer police officer who contributes to the police force but does not carry weapons and only participates in nonhazardous duties, the NYPD said.

The investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
