Boy In Coma After Almost Drowning In Prospect Park: Family, Reports
A 13-year-old is "fighting for his life" nearly two weeks after he almost drowned in Prospect Park.
PROSPECT HEIGHTS, NY — A 13-year-old boy was remained "fighting for his life" two weeks after he nearly drowned in Prospect Park Lake, his family said.
Rikeverns Joassaint, known as Ricky, remained in a coma Tuesday after he was pulled from the lake on June 13, according to police and the New York Daily News.
"My heart is broken and torn to pieces. Our family needs help to continue supporting Ricky's medical bills," Joassaint's father, Sergo Joassaint wrote on the GoFundMe page.

By Tuesday, Joassaint's GoFundMe had raised over $1,100, chipping away at the family's $5,000 goal to help with medical bills.
Joassaint's father said he is a "hard-working" middle school student who loves basketball, soccer, music and video games.

"Two of Ricky's favorite colors are blue and red. His favorite basketball players are Stephen Curry, Michael Jordan and Lebron James," his father said.
Ricky Joassaint was seen playing with friends in the water about 5:30 p.m. June 13 when he flailed and went under water, according to the Daily News.
A passerby and emergency personnel rescued him from the water minutes later, according to the New York Post. Joassaint was rushed to an area hospital, where he has remained in critical condition for weeks.
"I am praying that he will open his eyes and regain consciousness," Sergio Joassaint said.
