BK Drug Trafficking Scheme Included Overdose, Murder Plot: Prosecutors

BROWNSVILLE, NY — A Brownsville drug trafficking ring came to a screeching halt with four key members charged in a 34-count indictment, prosecutors announced Tuesday.

A long-term wiretap led to the seizure of narcotics and nine firearms related to a violent drug trafficking gang in Brooklyn — just as its leader was plotting murder, according to Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan.

Prosecutors say the suspected leader of the ring, Alex "Trini" Davis, was cooking and packaging crack cocaine and storing firearms in an apartment on Hegeman Avenue, said the special prosecutor.

An apartment on Amboy Street was also used to store drugs and firearms, prosecutors said.

In January, emergency personnel responded to a fatal overdose in one of the apartments in the Hegeman Avenue building — on the same day that law enforcement seized an arsenal of drugs, prosecutors said.

"Law enforcement's tireless monitoring of wiretapped calls and physical surveillance thwarted multiple acts of violence in real time, potentially saving lives over several months of investigation," Brennan said in a statement.

Davis had also been plotting to murder a person he believed had targeted him, prosecutors said.

"Prompt law enforcement action in response to the conversations about obtaining a gun to shoot at the rival crew member appeared to disrupt [Davis’] alleged plan," prosecutors said.

Four men between 20 and 23-years-old now face a slew of charges related to the gang activity, including conspiracy and drug and weapons possessions charges.
