6 Hurt When Car Jumps Curb In Crown Heights: FDNY

The car jumped the curb and hit people who were walking down Nostrand Avenue near St. Johns Place, according to police.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Six people were hurt Wednesday morning when a car jumped the curb in Crown Heights, according to police.

The car drove onto the sidewalk and rammed into several people who were walking down Nostrand Avenue near St. Johns Place just before 8 a.m., according to police and fire officials.

Five people were rushed to the hospital by emergency responders, four of whom were seriously hurt, according to FDNY. One person had minor injuries and a sixth person who was hurt refused medical attention, fire officials said.

The car, whose driver was put in handcuffs by police, also hit the gate of Two Saints bar, shaking the building, witnesses told Gothamist. The outlet also reported that two of the victims were children.

Video from the scene shows the intersection blocked with at least half a dozen emergency responder vehicles.
