Citi Bike Installation Starting Soon In Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and PLG

The 27 stations are expected to be live by the end of the year.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Citi Bike will soon begin installing stations in 27 locations across Prospect Heights, Crown Heights and Prospect-Lefferts Gardens, the company said Tuesday.

A DOT spokesman couldn't say exactly when that would begin or when they would go live. But Citi Bike is expected to complete this current phase of expansion by the end of the year.

Installations will begin on September 12 in Harlem up to 130th Street, then move to Queens before finishing in Brooklyn. The stations go live on the same day they are installed.

"With this round of Citi Bike expansion, bike share will now cover more than 30 square miles, with more New Yorkers able to take advantage of this fast, affordable, convenient and sustainable transportation option," DOT Commissioner Polly Trottenberg said in a statement. "More than just adding neighborhoods to the bike share network, Citi Bike is also bringing more bikes and stations to already established neighborhoods."

The central Brooklyn locations were chosen after listening sessions with Community Boards 8 (north of Easter Parkway) and 9 (south of Eastern Parkway).

They extend out to Rogers Avenue and as far south as Lefferts Avenue.
