Crown Heights Man Who Killed Sister And Ex Gets 50 Years: DA

Andre Neverson had spent 16 years on the run after killing his sister and former girlfriend in 2002, prosecutors said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A man who evaded authorities for 16 years after killing his sister and former girlfriend in Brooklyn will spend at least 50 years in prison for the murders, prosecutors announced.

Andre Neverson, who was convicted late last year, was sentenced Wednesday to 50 years to life in prison for the 2002 slaying of his sister Patricia Neverson and girlfriend Donna Davis, according to the District Attorney's Office.

The sentence comes several years after law enforcement arrested Neverson in Connecticut, where he had been on the run until 2018, according to officials.

"Justice has prevailed in this case and a man who committed two senseless murders nearly 20 years ago will now pay for his actions," District Attorney Eric Gonzalez said. "I hope that the family and friends of the victims, who waited so many years for some closure, will find solace in today's sentence."

Neverson, then 38, shot his sister Patricia, 39, in the head and stomach after the pair fought about money on July 8, 2002, U.S. Marshals and police said. She was found later that night.
