Crown Heights Man Arrested in Connection With Hit-and-Run in East NY

23-year-old Ted Jerome is suspected of hitting a 53-year-old man with his Lexus and running away from the scene, cops said.

EAST NEW YORK, BROOKLYN — Cops arrested a 23-year-old Crown Heights man on Wednesday in connection with a hit-and-run in the East New York area early Sunday morning, an NYPD spokesperson said.

The suspect, Ted Jerome, was charged with leaving an accident that resulted in death and driving without a license, cops said.

The incident occurred on Sunday Jan. 1 at around 5 a.m., when Jerome allegedly fatally struck a 53-year-old with his car. Cops arriving at the scene found the victim unconscious and unresponsive, with severe injuries to his body, police said. The victim was then taken to Brookdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police have not yet released the name of the victim.

Cops believe that the victim was crossing Conduit Boulevard in City Line in the northbound direction when a black 2007 Lexus sedan came from a sharp left and struck him at the intersection of Conduit and Pine Street. The suspect then struck a guardrail with their Lexus and fled the scene on foot, police said they believe based on a preliminary investigation.
