Free Bike Helmet Giveaway Sunday
One thousand helmets will be given away in an event sponsored by Councilwoman Letitia James.

A local politician is holding a free event to encourage safe practices while riding a bicycle around the area.
Prospect Heights Councilwoman Letitia James is sponsoring a bike helmet fitting and giveaway at the Commodore Barry Park in Fort Greene from 12-4 p.m. on Sunday, April 21.

There are certain stipulations to receiving a helmet, including:

You must be present to get a helmet and you must learn how to properly fit it.

A parent or legal guardian must be present to sign a waiver for children under age 18.
Adults over age 18 receiving a helmet must sign a waiver.
The giveaway comes just in time as a wave of rent-a-bikes make their way into Brooklyn through the city's new bike share program, the CitiBike system.
Commodore Barry Park is located at Navy Street and Flushing Avenue.
