PROSPECT LEFFERTS GARDENS, NY — A suspect arrested for a string of killings on Long Island has ties to a Brooklyn building, city records show.

Rex Heuermann, owner of RH Consultants and Associates, was arrested Friday related to the decades-old Gilgo Beach serial killings.

At least 11 sets of remains were found along Ocean Parkway over a decade-long period, but the arrest is tied specifically to the so-called "Gilgo Four," four women found wrapped in burlap in 2010.

Heuermann's Midtown firm had its hand in many New York City ventures, including the Burlington Coat Factory on Flatbush and Tilden avenues, according to the firm's website.

Burlington leased the property in 2020, taking over a former Staples location, The Real Deal reported at the time.

The firm also helped Burlington obtaining permits from the city's Building department.

Building records show Heuermann applied for a work permit on the property in 2019 for general construction including facade alterations, light fixture changes, and either a partial demolition or raising or moving of the building.

All together, the construction was projected to cost over $1.3 million, building records show.

Heuermann had previously told Bonjour Realty he was a building facilitator for the department, helping clients navigate the complicated construction process.

"Part of my job became, 'Educate the city,'" Heuermann said.

The firm was involved with a number of other recognizable buildings across New York City, including a Target in SoHo, a Bronx Foot Locker and Savior Beds NYC Showroom on the Upper East Side.

On the Upper West Side, the firm renovated a two-bedroom on Central Park West.
