Man Arrested For 2018 Crown Heights Murder: NYPD

The man is accused of murdering a 33-year-old and fleeing in Brooklyn five years ago.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — A man who shot a 33-year-old in Crown Heights five years ago was arrested Tuesday, NYPD announced.

Marc Jean, 35, of Prospect Lefferts Gardens, is accused of shooting Argenis Cabrera, 33, in front of his apartment at 1655 Union Street on July 3, 2018, police said.

Cabrera was standing outside his apartment building with a group of people when Jean approached in a white minivan and shot Cabrera in the chest, NY Post reported at the time.

Cabrera was found unresponsive about 2:49 a.m. and Jean fled, police said. Cabrera was transported to an area hospital and pronounced dead.

Jean crashed into a stopped car just a block away at Union and Schenectady streets then ran off, but police did not catch him, NY Post reported.

Jean faces multiple charges including murder and criminal possession of a weapon, according to police.
