Update: The man killed in the stabbing has been identified as 18-year-old Jahmer Wilson-Freeman. An 18-year-old has been taken into custody for the incident (police originally told Patch the suspect was 19 years old).

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A man was stabbed and killed on Monday morning in Crown Heights, according to police.

The man was stabbed just before 8 a.m. on Troy Avenue near Dean Street, police said.

He was rushed to the hospital, but did not survive, according to police and fire officials.

Police said a 18-year-old was taken into custody at the scene of the stabbing, which was across the street from The Weeksville School, an elementary school on Dean Street. An NYPD spokesperson did not know the age of the man who was stabbed, but said he was an adult.
