Smalls was struck at the Barclays Center station by a Q train while reaching for his backpack, according to witnesses and police.

He had been in critical condition since with two fractured legs and injuries to his head, ribs, right and hand, according to lawyers. Doctors for the 23-year-old, who was hooked up to a ventilator at a Brooklyn hospital, had told family they might soon discontinue medical care.

Attorneys hired by the family said Monday they are still looking into the crash. Family hope an autopsy of Smalls' body could help with the investigation.

"The Platta Law Firm is continuing its investigation into this tragic incident," the firm said. "The family is determined for an autopsy to be conducted, but arrangements with the hospital and the Office of the Medical Examiner are not yet complete."
