Man Who Stoned Jewish Dad In Crown Heights Park Arrested: Cops

Oniel Gilbourne, of Brownsville, stands accused of throwing stones at a Jewish man in Lincoln Terrace Park, police said.

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — Police arrested the man they say threw large rocks at Brooklyn man in an alleged anti-Semitic hate crime.

Oniel Gilbourne, 26, stands accused of breaking a 63-year-old man's teeth by throwing stones at him in Lincoln Terrace Park on Buffalo Avenue and Eastern Parkway about 7:40 a.m. on Aug. 27, police said

Gilbourne, of Brownsville, was charged with assault as a hate crime and criminal possession of a weapon, police said.

The Brooklyn man faces hate crime charges in part because the 63-year-old wore a yarmulke when he was attacked without provocation, said police.

Councilman Chaim Deutsch shared a photo of the large stone allegedly used, writing, "Has it become too dangerous for openly religious Jewish men to walk the streets of NYC?"
