BROOKLYN, NY — The elevator at Flatbush Avenue-Brooklyn College station is back up and running after a replacement project, the MTA announced.

The elevator, which had been closed since July, is one of 11 that the transit agency is replacing across seven stations throughout the city. It reopened ahead of schedule on Wednesday after being fully replaced.

“Projects like this prove the MTA’s project management strategies – like bundling – are working," said MTA Acting Chair and CEO Janno Lieber. "The MTA is committed to building a 21st century fully accessible system that is the best way for riders to navigate the city.”

The elevator replacement at Flatbush Avenue station included replacing the machine room equipment, fire alarm system and full elevator cab with modernized parts, which officials said will mean a smoother ride for straphangers.

The monitoring equipment known as "LiftNet" was also upgraded at the elevator so crews can respond more quickly to maintenance concerns, officials said.
