New Student-Run 'Farm Market' Debuts In Crown Heights

CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A new farmstand is bringing healthy snacks and groceries to Crown Heights.

The student-run "farm market" has been set up at the P.S. 316 schoolyard on Classon Avenue, according to organizers with nonprofit Seeds in the Middle.

It is one of several put together with the help of the organization, which aims to combat health disparities with various programs and food-centered events.

School-run farm markets are also set up in Brownsville and East Flatbush, according to the organizations latest newsletter.

Neighbors can visit the stands to buy healthy snacks for 50 cents each or pick up fruits, veggies or organic eggs. Families that can't make it during the stand's designated times can also order online so their child can take home a bag or pick up the food after hours, according to the post.
