Olmsted, Maison Yaki Owner Debuts 3rd Prospect Heights Restaurant
The Vanderbilt Avenue eatery, an homage to owner Greg Baxtrom's mother, is found next to a bakery he opened late last year.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A new restaurant opening this week from Prospect Heights restaurateur Greg Baxtrom brings Midwestern food to Vanderbilt Avenue — the New York City way, of course.
Patti Ann's, an homage to chef-owner Greg Baxtrom's mother, serves up fancy twists on comfort-food classics like a pigs in a blanket with "potato roll braided bacon" or a roasted chicken "prepared four ways with sauce royale," according to the restaurant.
"Chef Greg’s menu combines the nostalgic Midwestern comfort food of his childhood with techniques from his fine-dining background," a release writes.

Patti Ann's opened its doors Wednesday next to a cafe launched by Baxtrom and his pastry chef partner Alex Grunert last year, who has since left the project. The cafe, once called Evi's Bäckerei, has since been folded into the restaurant and renamed Patti Ann's Bakery, owners said.
Like the bakery, the restaurant was a family affair for Baxtrom.

Homages to Baxtrom's upbringing on a farm near Chicago and to his mother, an elementary school teacher, can be found throughout the 570 Vanderbilt Ave. space, which was designed and built by his father, Mike Baxtrom, according to the restaurant.
The menu features its own nods to Baxtrom's hometown, like onion dip based on his mother's recipe or beers from Midwestern breweries. Dishes like saltine-encrusted salmon, glazed duck meatloaf and a chicken fried country pork chop are served up as entrees.
Patti Ann's is the third restaurant in just a three-block radius for Baxtrom, who also owns popular neighborhood spots Olmsted and Maison Yaki.
The eatery will be open from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday. Its neighboring bakery is open 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
