“The SEEK Program at Medgar Evers College is extremely excited about the support the Spectrum Digital Education Grant will provide our students," Mason said in the release, "our students are full of potential but are some of the neediest at the university."

SEEK is a program founded by New York State in 1965 to target the needs of low-income students who do not meet traditional admissions standards but demonstrate potential for academic success.

The program provides students with a holistic support system, including five years of academic and financial support.

Mason said the grant will help "in ensuring that students can stay connected and on top of their studies by having a dedicated computer for the duration of their studies at Medgar Evers College."

Medgar Evers College — part of the CUNY system —was founded in 1970 with a mandate to meet educational needs of Central Brooklyn.
