Supermarket Shoplifting Turns Ugly

A 45-year-old man was arrested after he tried to slice a supermarket clerk with a box cutter.

The man was trying to shoplift eight cans of Red Bull at the Key Food on Flatbush Avenue near Sterling and attacked after the store worker confronted him, the clerk said. The altercation happened Saturday afternoon, Oct. 30.

Yoga Studio Wallet Swipe

An unsuspecting woman had her wallet taken while she was in a class at Bikrom Yoga on Flatbush Avenue at Prospect Place Saturday evening, Oct. 30. She reported the theft the next day after the thief used her credit cards in several places.

 

Restaurant iPad Swipe

A woman said her $800 iPad was swiped off the counter while she was cleaning inside Kelso Restaurant, 648 Franklin Ave. at Bergen St. on Wednesday, morning, Oct. 26.

 

Man Arrested in Car Break-In

More than a dozen car break-ins happen every month in Prospect Heights, but rarely is someone arrested, due to the difficulty in catching the thieves.

However, last week, a 22-year-old man was arrested after a 34-year-old man said he saw the former stealing something from his car. The car was parked on Dean Street between Vanderbilt and Underhill and the man said he saw the theft take place at about 8 p.m. on Oct. 25. The report does not note what the man was trying to steal.

 

Double Arrest in Heroin Sale

A man was charged with selling heroin from his car on Dean Street between Grand and Classon and another man was charged with buying the drug.

A cop saw one of the men hand what looked like heroin to the alleged buyer and after the arrest, cops found more glassine envelopes of the powder in the man’s car. The alleged drug dealer had $760.68 with him, according to the report.  The arrest took place in the evening of Oct. 24.

 

Car Break-In

A 53-year-old man said someone broke into his 2011 Ford SUV and stole the stereo stystem, worth $150.  The car was parked on Bergen street between Grand and Classon avenues on Oct. 28 and the theft took pace between 8 and 10 am Friday morning, Oct. 28.
