NEW YORK, NY — A leaked draft opinion indicating the U.S. Supreme Court will strike down Roe v. Wade will send New Yorkers to the streets on Tuesday.

Abortion-rights rallies have been set up at the Barclays Center, Foley Square and Washington Square Park for Tuesday evening, just 24 hours after Politico first revealed the U.S. Supreme Court voted to strike down Roe v. Wade, the 1973 ruling that made abortion legal in all 50 states.

The news organization said it had obtained an initial draft majority opinion written by Justice Samuel Alito and circulated inside the court. The court's ruling isn't expected until June or July, and the exact wording of the draft could change between now and then, Politico said.

Still, the potential rollback sent shockwaves through the country, and New York City.

"The anti-abortion extremists want to roll back the clock on women’s rights and deny bodily autonomy to literally millions living in states with existing abortion bans," said organizers of the Barclays Center protest, Socialist Alternative NYC. "Every women’s organization, socialist organization, and leftwing organization needs to immediately mobilize to stop the right wing’s anti-woman agenda."

A vote to overturn Roe would send abortion access back to the states to decide. At least 26 are certain or likely to ban abortion, according to the Guttmacher Institute, a reproductive rights policy group.
