A man shoved a 27-year-old to the ground and tried to take off her underwear in Prospect Park before running away, police said.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, NY — A man shoved a 27-year-old down and pulled up her skirt at Prospect Park Monday in what police were calling an attempted rape, according to the NYPD.
A stranger approached the woman about 9:15 p.m. near Dog Beach and Fallkill Falls, lifted her skirt and tried to pull her underwear down, police said Thursday.
After throwing her to the ground, he ran — and police were still looking for the man they suspect was 30 or 40 years old Thursday, according to the NYPD.

A Prospect Park Alliance spokesperson told the New York Daily News the park has not seen a lot of crime recently, but the incident would be taken seriously.
“Crime is relatively low in the park, but any incident that endangers the safety of park visitors is very concerning and taken seriously,” Deborah Kirschner told the Daily News.
