Now that warm weather and sunny days are here (finally!), I’ve decided to make a point of exploring our neighborhood eateries, everything from family-owned spots to familiar chains.

It’s part of a personal goal I’ve set to really get a real sense of the Prospect Heights dining scene and show support for local businesses. That’s why I was particularly excited when a friend (who works there) told me about an upcoming ribbon-cutting at the newly remodeled Wendy’s on Flatbush Avenue.

I’ve never been to a ribbon-cutting before, and I’m curious to see what all the fuss is about. This event takes place on Monday, June 16, 2025, at 11 a.m. at the Wendy’s restaurant located at 469 Flatbush Ave.

I’m planning to swing by, snap a few photos, and take a peek at how the space has been refreshed. My friend tells me the new layout is brighter, more inviting, and still offers all our favorite menu staples— I have to admit, I’ve always been a fan of their Spicy Chicken Sandwiches, and, of course, their Frostys!

I heard there might be some local elected officials and community VIPs on hand for the ceremony, and rumor has it that Wendy’s Frosty mascot will make an appearance too. I’ve got a get a picture of me and Frosty for the Insta!

After the ribbon is cut, attendees can tour the updated dining area and chat with the management team about the makeover. I’m looking forward to seeing how the new touches and seating areas reflect our community’s “vibe”.

If you’re curious about the changes or just want to be part of a neighborhood celebration, I hope to see you there. It’s a fun way to spend a morning, and you’ll get to enjoy a freshly made Wendy’s meal afterward. Here’s to supporting Prospect Heights local businesses—one meal at a time!
