CROWN HEIGHTS, BROOKLYN — A scooter-riding man was able to protect his ride from two would-be thieves Monday night — including one who intimated that he was armed with a pistol, police said.

The 42-year-old rider was enjoying a scoot along Eastern Parkway near Schenectady Avenue at about 7:20 p.m. Monday when two strangers approached him and demanded his ride, according to police.

One of the men had his hand inside his shirt and acted as if he had a gun, officials said, but never revealed his truth.

The scooter-riding man was able to defend himself from the first gun-shy would-be crook when the second man ran towards him, fists swinging, officials said.

But that strategy failed too, and the scooter rider was able to ride away as the two failed thieves fled east on Eastern Parkway, according to an NYPD official.
