SEE: NYPD Horses Escape, Run Free Through Brooklyn
Freedom and Sampson are back in their stable after a run through the streets of Midwood on Thursday, police said.

BROOKLYN, NY — Midwood residents had some new neigh-bors this afternoon.
Two NYPD horses are safely back in their stables after a brief run through the neighborhood on Thursday.
Freedom and Sampson, part of the NYPD's Mounted Unit, broke free near Quentin Road and East Eighth Street around noon after the sergeant and officer who were riding the steeds climbed down from their saddles, police said.

The cops dismounted because the officer was having a minor medical episode, according to police.
The horses ran down Ocean Parkway for about ten minutes before the cops — with the help of emergency responders called for the officers' medical emergency — corralled them near Shore Parkway.

Both cops were taken to the hospital after the chase, the officer for his medical episode and the sergeant because one of the horses stepped on his foot "as he was trotting off," an NYPD spokesperson said. They are both in stable condition.
Freedom and Sampson are safely in their "mounted base," the spokesperson said.
"No more horsing around for these two," the NYPD Tweeted.
