Sidewalk Construction, Road Closures Expected In Crown Heights

Starting Monday, sidewalk restoration and road closures may cause disruptions for Crown Heights residents.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — A number of construction projects will affect Crown Heights travelers this week, including sidewalk and sewer repairs.

Sidewalk & Pedestrian Ramps Project

Sidewalk and pedestrian ramp restoration is scheduled throughout Crown Heights and East Flatbush this week. The following sites will have work this week:

Empire Boulevard Reconstruction

Construction is also scheduled for a restoration project to install a sidewalk on Empire Boulevard and Sullivan Place and repair an underground sewer on Empire Boulevard between Franklin Avenue and Washington Avenue.

The project is scheduled to be complete in June, 2023 and will include the following construction this week:

  • Brick sewer repair on Empire Blvd between McKeever Place and Washington Avenue; Monday-Friday from 8 a.m-4 p.m.
  • Sidewalk replacement on Franklin Avenue between Empire Boulevard and Sullivan Place; Monday-Friday from 8 a.m-4 p.m.

The Empire Boulevard reconstruction project started in 2022, with some and some sewer and sidewalk upgrades have already been completed, according to the NYC Department of Design and Construction.

Maple Street Closure

Starting Friday, Maple Street will be intermittently closed to traffic from East 48th Street to Utica Avenue from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The closures will las through May 7.
