Teen's Burnt Body Found In Brooklyn, Arrest Made Months Later: NYPD
Months after a young man's body was found burned near Brooklyn train tracks, police found a man they believe helped cover it up.

CROWN HEIGHTS, NY — A man accused of hiding a slain teen's burnt body on abandoned Brooklyn train tracks was arrested Thursday, according to police.
Remy McPrecia, 24, was arrested months after Deandre Matthews, 19, was found covered in burns on the train tracks near Brooklyn College on Nostrand Avenue, police said.
Matthews — who had vanished the day before — had been shot in the head, police said.

The teen appeared to have inhaled smoke before he died and his car, found near the tracks, also had burns, NBC News reported.
The tracks are those Gov. Kathy Hochul wants to use for an Inter-Borough Express to connect Brooklyn and Queens.

Danielle Matthews, the teen's mom, told NBC News she believes her son's killing was a hate crime because he was gay.
Danielle Matthews reportedly asked, "Who would kill a beautiful soul like that?”
Deandre Matthews worked at Buggy Service Center in Crown Heights and was studying criminal justice at SUNY Broome Community College, according to CBS News.
His family remembers him as a funny kid who loved driving, playing video games and spending time with family, CBS News reported.
"He was just so nice to people, just always too nice, and sometimes people could take that for granted," friend Daviona Miley told CBS News. "I always taught him to be strong, though."
Advocates held a vigil for Matthews in February and called for a thorough investigation of the teen's death.
