Child Struck By Van While Crossing NYC Street, NYPD Says

BROOKLYN, NY — A 10-year-old boy was hospitalized after being hit by a car while walking on a Crown Heights street Tuesday morning, according to police.

The child, who was taken to the hospital in critical condition, was crossing the service road at Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue around 8:40 a.m. when he was struck by a Nissan van carrying four passengers, police said.

At the time of the collision, the van was heading west on the Eastern Parkway service road as the boy was crossing the street, police said.

The 47-year-old driver was not injured and had not been charged as of Wednesday, according to police. The four passengers in the van were also unharmed.

This is the second child to be struck on that road this summer.

In June, 8-year-old Mordica Keller was crossing the street with his sister at the intersection of Eastern Parkway and Albany Avenue when a driver hit and killed him, officials said.
