Vegetable-Forward Botanic Garden Eatery A Hot Summer Pick: Report

Eater NY says the Brooklyn Botanic Garden's Yellow Magnolia eatery is the place to be for a hot summer day.

PROSPECT HEIGHTS, NY — As temperatures (quickly) rise, Brooklyn's Backyard quickly fills up with sunbathers from across the borough.

Amongst the Botanic Garden plants and adjacent to the park's Conservatory sits a "vegetable-centric" restaurant called Yellow Magnolia that Eater NY says is an "exceedingly pleasant" way to spend a hungry afternoon in the park.

The restaurant opened for the spring and summer season in early April, with a new menu full of "beautiful, colorful" eats, BK Reader reported.

Open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday and 11 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday-Sunday, Yellow Magnolia Café serves up a number of vegetarian and vegan small plates like beet tartare, a mixed Mediterranean mezze platter and a panisse pancake.

The prices are steep, with a burger coming in at $25 and appetizers ranging from $14-$19. Cocktails sit between $15-$17 and include a passion fruit margarita, botanical gin and tonic and all-too-famous espresso martini.

And, of course, diners have already paid admission to the Botanic Garden before reaching the veggie-friendly restaurant.

The Yellow Magnolia's terrace on the Conservatory's entrance serves a smaller menu of pizzas, soft pretzels and sandwiches at a similar price point.

But according to Eater NY, the price is well worth it — and one of the few NYC museum eateries that could stand on its own.

By way of view, the restaurant can't be beat — it overlooks the garden's Lily Pool Terrace.
