5 Dead In Queens New Year's Day Crash Named

The early morning crash along the Cross Island Parkway remains under investigation, police said.

QUEENS, NY — Five people who died in an early New Year's Day crash along a Queens expressway have been named by police.

Kazeem Ramsahai, 24, of North Carolina, was behind the wheel of a Mazda in which he and four passengers died, police said.

His passengers were Mario Ocampo, 30, Dayanara Benitez-Ocampo, 19, Salma Garcia-Diaz, 23, and Jordy Bentances, 20, all from Queens, authorities said.

All were pronounced dead at the crash scene along the Cross Island Parkway near Exit 36S, police said.

The driver of a Honda, who is hospitalized in stable condition, collided with the Mazda about 5:50 a.m., authorities said.
