FDNY officials warn that older New Yorkers are especially vulnerable and urge families to check electrical setups, space heaters and smoke detectors, and to create simple escape plans with their loved ones.

• Pope names pro-immigrant pastor bishop of diocese where Trump's Mar-a-Lago is located (wusf.org) — A Queens-based priest who has long served immigrant parishioners in Corona’s Our Lady of Sorrows, the largest parish in the Diocese of Brooklyn, has been tapped by Pope Leo XIV to become bishop of Palm Beach, Florida. His advocacy for migrants, many from Queens’ Latino community, will now shape his leadership in the diocese that includes Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
