Arverne Man Sentenced After Car Runs Over Crowd, Kills One In 2017: DA

A man was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison after running over a crowd with his car and fatally striking one man, prosecutors said.

QUEENS – A man from Arverne was sentenced to 40 years to life in prison five years after running over a crowd with his car and fatally striking one man in Ozone Park, the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Thursday.

Adrian Harry, 28, was convicted of murder, attempted murder, and assault last month after a rampage that left two people stabbed outside of a hookah lounge and fatally ran over his friend Richardo Chattergoon, 23, on Dec. 3, 2017, prosecutors said.

In 2017, Harry started fighting with a group of men over a parking spot in front of the XS NYC hookah lounge on Liberty Avenue near 127th Street before he and Chattergoon exited the car and attacked the men, according to QNS.

Chattergoon stabbed two of the men, and fled on foot with Harry before the men caught Chattergoon and started punching him, the district attorney said, Katz said.

Harry got back in the car and intentionally plowed the group, leaving some of the men injured, and killed Chattergoon before he fled, prosecutors said.
