Astoria Citi Bikes: Tentative Map Of Docks
NYC Department of Transportation wants to hear your opinion on the 59 new Citi Bike docks around Astoria.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — The Department of Transportation announced its plans to install dozens of new Citi Bike docks around Astoria, and they want to hear your opinion on the new locations before they begin serving Queens residents this summer.
Queens Community Board 1 shared a map of the tentative locations last week, and will release a finalized map sometime in the summer or late spring. The current map shows the 59 new docks within the area bounded by Ditmars Boulevard to the north, Queens Plaza North to the south and 44th Street to the east.
CB 1 and the DOT urge Queens residents to visit their website to share their opinions on the new locations.

The proposed docks are located near the borough's busiest spots, such as Astoria Park, Museum of the Moving Image, Socrates Sculpture Park and Queensbridge Park.
For the most part, docks will be placed on sidewalks instead of roadbeds to avoid reducing the number street parking spots.

The bike sharing service is planning to double its fleet, from 6,000 to 12,000 bikes, within 2017, mostly within low-income neighborhoods, such as South Bronx, Bushwick and Bed-Stuy. To support the expansion, City Council allocated $12 million to Citi Bike in its preliminary budget. Astoria is the second Queens neighborhood to receive Citi Bike docks after Long Island City, which will receive 10 more docks this summer.
Citi Bike is also offering discounted $4 rides through the month of April. You can claim your pass here.
