Bengal King Jhal Chanachur treats recalled because of undeclared peanuts (foodsafetynews.com) — A Maspeth-based company in Queens has recalled its Bengal King Jhal Chanachur snacks because they contain undeclared peanuts, posing a serious risk to people with allergies. The product was sold nationwide, so Queens residents should check 12.34-ounce jars with lot B No.HCNCU1205/24 and a June 2026 expiration date.
   

2. How New Yorkers feel about the F and M subway swap (fox5ny.com) — If you ride the F or M through Queens, your weekday route has changed: the lines now swap Manhattan–Queens paths from about 6 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. The F serves Queens Plaza and Court Sq–23 St while the M runs to 21 St–Queensbridge and Roosevelt Island, leaving Queens express and local patterns the same but confusing many riders.
   

3. Queens man shot to death outside bodega was devoted dad with criminal history (nydailynews.com) — A 27-year-old father was fatally shot on a Queens street in Corona, with another man wounded and treated at Queens Hospital Center. Family members remember him as a devoted dad to his two young children despite a troubled past, and neighbors have created a memorial outside the bodega while relatives raise funds for his funeral and the kids’ care.

Colombian ‘Día de Las Velitas' Illuminates Queens Neighborhood Shadowed by ICE Raids (nycitynewsservice.com) — Queens’ Little Colombia in Jackson Heights recently celebrated Día de las Velitas with candles, music, and Colombian treats, just days after ICE raids on nearby homes. Neighbors, immigrants, and local leaders gathered along 34th Avenue to affirm community, condemn heavy-handed immigration enforcement, and highlight how cultural traditions help residents feel safe and welcome in Queens.
   

5. Working Families Party makes early endorsements (ny1.com) — A key progressive third party just backed Assemblywoman Jessica Gonzalez-Rojas over incumbent Jessica Ramos in the Democratic primary for State Senate District 13, which covers Corona, East Elmhurst and Jackson Heights. The Working Families Party also met in Queens with statewide candidates as it pressures Gov. Kathy Hochul on affordability, taxes, climate policy, and universal childcare ahead of 2026.
