  1. A Brooklyn man has been arrested for a shooting that took place in Cambria Heights in December which injured a 17-year-old, according to NYPD. On Wednesday, 23-year-old Michael Tiru was arrested for attempted assault after he and other men shot at a group of people at the intersection of Linden Boulevard and 228th Street on New Year's Eve. One of those shots struck the victim in the abdomen and caused non-fatal injuries. (Patch)
  2. To counter its greatest blood shortage in a decade, the New York Blood Center is seeking blood donors in Queens. Many blood drives will be taking place across the borough this month, with the first taking place on Wednesday, Feb. 8 at the Shops at Atlas Park in Glendale from 1:00 to 7:00 p.m. Other blood drives will take place through Feb. 26 in neighborhoods including Kew Gardens, Long Island City, Jamaica, and more.   3. A driver in Fresh Meadows has been charged with a DWI after his SUV crashed and landed on top of two parked cars. On Tuesday, 50-year-old Zahir Kahn lost control of his vehicle on 53rd Avenue and crashed in what residents say sounded like "an earthquake." Kahn then attempted to back off the parked cars but had no success. He has been charged with driving while intoxicated. (ABC 7 NY)
