Bomb Squad Removed Vehicle At JFK Airport, Delaying Trains: Officials

A police dog alerted authorities to an unattended car near the AirTrain, prompting the bomb squad to remove the vehicle, officials said.

QUEENS, NY — A bomb squad removed a vehicle near John F. Kennedy International Airport's AirTrain, prompting transit delays Monday morning, officials said.

An unattended car near the AirTrain first drew the attention of a police dog about 10:40 a.m., a spokesperson for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey confirmed.

The dog's reaction prompted law enforcement officials to take action. AirTrain service was suspended as a bomb squad rushed to the area and removed the vehicle, the spokesperson said.
