Boy Fatally Shot In The Head Inside NYC Apartment, NYPD Says

QUEENS, NY — A 14-year-old boy was found fatally shot inside a Queens apartment on Wednesday, police said.

According to the NYPD, Jamauri Mezar is believed to have been handling a gun inside an apartment on 161 St. in Jamaica when it off.

Mezar was struck in the head after the gun went off, police said.

The 14-year-old boy was with a group of friends when the incident occurred, according to ABC7 New York and the New York Daily News.

Mezar was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are investigating how the gun got into the apartment, though it is believed that a friend may have brought the gun.

An investigation remains ongoing.
