Brooklyn Ex-Marine Found Guilty Of Killing Queens Man: DA

The ex-marine, who could spend the rest of his life in prison, had claimed he suffers from PTSD.

OZONE PARK, QUEENS — An ex-Marine in Brooklyn has been convicted in a 2012 shooting death of a Queens man after a jury rejected his claim that he was not responsible because he suffered from post-traumatic stress disorder, the Queens district attorney announced Thursday.

The jury found 33-year-old William Harrigan guilty Wednesday of second-degree murder and second-degree possession of a weapon. He had been held without bail since his arrest in August 2012 and being brought to trial in Queens Supreme Court.

Harrigan is scheduled to be sentenced on April 19 and faces from 25 years to life in prison.

According to the DA, Harrigan was at the Ozone Park nightclub, Flirt, on Aug. 27, 2012, then located on 94-02 80th St, when he was ejected from the premises along with the victim, Boutin Williams, a 22-year-old Rockaway Beach resident.

The two had been in a verbal dispute, the DA said, when Harrigan walked to his car, retrieved a firearm and then came back to shoot the victim five times.

“In rendering its verdict, the jury found the defendant guilty of senselessly murdering a young man during an argument that escalated into blows," said DA Brown. "As a result of his actions that night, the defendant now faces the prospect of being locked away for the rest of his life."
