Here are the top three stories today in Queens:

  1. On Jun. 27, the NYC Districting Commission will host its first public hearing on a new City Council district map in Queens. At the meeting, community members will be able to voice their opinions on the new council districts. The public hearing will take place from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at York College, located at 94-20 Guy Brewer Blvd. in Jamaica. (QNS.com)
  2. On Tuesday night, firefighters took on a blaze at a building on the Brooklyn/Queens border. When firefighters responded at 7 Ridgewood Place at around 6:30 p.m., they encountered a column of heavy black smoke protruding from the four-story building. The fire was placed under control at 7:15 p.m. The building's roof was badly damaged. (AMNY)
  3. This Saturday, an LGBTQ-themed beer festival is being held at a popular brewpub in Sunnyside. Beginning at 4:00 p.m., the One Love Pride Beer Festival will kick off at Alewife Brewery and Taproom, located at 41-11 39th St. The event, intended to celebrate pride month and the LGBTQ community, is organized by Patrick Donagher, who co-owns Alewife, along with former council member Jimmy Van Bramer and his husband Dan Hendrick.
