Competition At Flushing Restaurant Offers Prize Of 1,000 Dumplings

FLUSHING, QUEENS — Need 1,000 dumplings? The hunger-busting prize is being offered in a tasting competition at a Flushing restaurant this weekend with one caveat: The feast has to be eaten within two hours.

Dumpling Galaxy, at 42-35 Main St., will serve participants different types of dumplings to see if they can identify the ingredients used to make them, the organizers said.

Each team of one to six people will be given a list of ingredients and asked to identify which of them is contained in each dumpling. There will be five dumplings per round and each member of the team will receive two of every kind.

The grand prize for the contest is a "Night of 1,000 Dumplings," where four winners will be able to eat as many as 1,000 dumplings within two hours.

The restaurant will award a copy of "The Dumpling Galaxy Cookbook" to the second place winner and there will be a cash prize for third place.

Tickets need to be purchased prior to the contest.
