Corona Cyclist, 20, Fatally Struck In Jamaica Hills: Police

The man died after crashing against an open vehicle door, falling onto the roadway, leading a Jeep driver to strike him, police said.

QUEENS — A 20-year-old man riding an e-bike died after crashing against an open vehicle door, falling onto the roadway, leading a Jeep driver to strike him in Jamaica Hills Friday, police said.

Azizbek Soliev, from Corona, was riding the bike on 164 Street, near Chapin Parkway, when the driver of 2022 Mercedes Benz GLE 350 opened the door and Soliev crashed against it about 6 p.m., the NYPD said.

The 20-year-old fell to the roadway, and the driver of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee struck him, leading to severe head and torso injuries for Soliev, authorities said.

The Corona man was taken to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center, where he died, police said.

The 60-year-old woman driving the Mercedes Benz and the 35-year-old man driving the Jeep remained at the scene of the incident, cops said.
