Edward Huerta, 21, was arrested after he stabbed Ana Lucia Quiroz Chimborazo, 19, and attacked her with a baseball bat, prosecutors said.
QUEENS — A man from Corona was charged with attempted murder after he stabbed his cousin and roommate in their home on Monday, the Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz said Wednesday.
Edward Huerta, 21, was arrested after he stabbed Ana Lucia Quiroz Chimborazo, 19, and attacked her with a baseball bat on Jan. 2 about 6 p.m. in their residence between 108th Street and Roosevelt Avenue, Katz said.
Huerta faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted, prosecutors said.

Huerta supposedly barricaded his 19-year-old cousin inside the apartment, attacked her with a baseball bat, and then stabbed her in the face, chest and arms, the district attorney said.
Family members who heard the screams tried to enter the apartment, and Huerta fled out the window, Katz said.

Police caught Huerta, and he said he wanted to “die with her” and “commit suicide with her,” according to prosecutors.
The 19-year-old suffered a fractured skull and bleeding on her brain, among other injuries, and was taken to a local hospital, the district attorney said.
Huerta is scheduled to come back to court on Jan. 6, prosecutors said.
