Queens Can Meditate With Deepak Chopra, Borough President Richards
The wellness expert is expected to lead a meditation session at New World Mall in Flushing, according to Borough President Donovan Richards.

QUEENS, NY — Now could be your chance to meditate with the borough president and the world-famous wellness expert Deepak Chopra.
Chopra next month will lead a meditation event at New World Mall's Royal Restaurant in Flushing on Queens Wellness Day, Sept. 24, according to Borough President Donovan Richards.
The marathon meditation event will run from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. and will include health guru Queen Afua, according to Richards.

“We couldn’t be more excited to have partners like Deepak Chopra and Queen Afua leading those conversations,” Richards told Patch via email.
Chopra is a New York Times best-selling author, humanitarian and advocate for alternative medicine.

Queen Afua is also a NYT best-selling author, holistic health expert and wellness coach.
Richards said his his goal was "to ensure our Queens community members and families feel uplifted and supported."
He will be providing a meditation program to kick off the day and Queen Afua will give advice on how to heal one’s body within from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m., the BP’s Office added.
There will be a free Wellness Expo from 12 to 4:30 p.m., on 40th Road near the James Bland Playground, as well as honors for Helen Arteaga of Elmhurst Hospital, Erica Ford of LIFE Camp, Karen Ignagni of Emblem Health and community activist Yi Chen.
The expo will include fitness classes, a health screening, free fruits and vegetables and more, according to Richard’s office.
“If the COVID-19 pandemic taught us anything, it’s that our personal health and wellbeing is of utmost importance,” said Richards.
“We hope to destigmatize wellness and mental health by showing them the best practices to achieve a healthier lifestyle holistically.”
